Taster66 only has a couple of weeks left in the Hampton Roads area before he is on the road again. He is commenting on Fire & Vine in Va. Beach.
"I was out on a Wednesday night for dinner(Hump Day). I went to FIRE AND VINE restaurant located in Va. Beach in the Hilltop area. It was a very exciting experience. In my opinion, it was the best restaurant associate with wine that I have every attended. The service was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable about their menu and wine selection. The atmosphere was very cozy and romantic. I think FIRE AND VINE would make an excellent place for an after work gathering. Their entree's were very tasty. We had the all natural Semi boneless half chicken and the rockfish.
Their wine selection was incredible. FIRE AND VINE has over 500 different types of wines for tasting. FIRE AND VINE serves "flight" of wines. I tasted a "flight of CAB's". OBERON CABERNET(CA) and JIM BARRY COVER DRIVE CABERNET(AUSTRALIA) were excellent. The third one was STUHMULLER CABERNET(CA) which had a chalky aftertaste. My favorite was the JIM BARRY COVER DRIVE .
Along with the flight of wines is a scorecard of each wine that was sampled. I thought that was an excellent idea. Not many keep scorecards of the wine that they taste while they are out socially. You are even able to keep the card to take home with you for future reference.
FIRE AND VINE is an excellent choice for a nice evening out with your spouse or a social gathering with friends. I WILL DEFINITELY MAKE A RETURN VISIT TO FIRE AND VINE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I will recommend FIRE AND VINE to all of my friends for a nice evening outing..."
